Arckit models open doors to 3D printing

A multi award-winning modelling system designed for architects is now opening its doors to offering bespoke add-on 3D printed components.

This February, the groundbreaking Arckit system is launching Arckit Infiniti 3D, a new concept that will open up unlimited potential for the future of model making.

Arckit’s Infiniti 3D store will be online at Shapeways, the world’s leading 3D printing service, allowing Arckit to offer one-off components of the highest quality.

Now architects, model enthusiasts and schools can further enhance their existing Arckit collection by choosing from a range of custom designed parts.

Imagine bespoke walls, archways, roofs, columns, stairs, dormers, figurines, furniture, vehicles, domes, church spires, landscape elements and much more – completely unique and made to order.

Founder Damien Murtagh said: “Arckit Infiniti 3D provides a new outlet for everyone to further develop their architectural skills and creations. And we want everyone to get involved by sending in their suggestions for new components.

“Architects will benefit from greater freedom to implement their own unique stamp on their designs. This together with Arckit’s speed of assembly and affordability, could mark a genuine return to physical model making within architectural practices.”

Arckit is a stand alone modular system that also complements traditional ‘cut and glue’ methods. Arckit 3D printed components simply click into place and can be used alongside existing Arckit components to enhance designs and create vast different architectural styles.

News of the Infiniti 3D store will undoubtedly benefit schools and universities around the world, who are now using Arckit to teach valuable STEAM skills to their students.

Arckit is stocked in stores such Harrods, RIBA Book Shop, museum & design stores, quality toy shops and has recently been listed in 445 Barnes & Noble stores across the US.

Arckit’s revolutionary new system has been extensively featured on TV and media including NBC, Fox News, The Times, Wired, Dezeen, Fast Company and many more.

Murtagh added: “This is the beginning of a new and exciting venture for Arckit. We have big plans for Infiniti 3D and will continue to grow our component range.

“We are also reaching out to the Arckit community for feedback and suggestions, as we want everyone to be involved from the beginning.

“This is another first for the architectural model industry. We expect 3D printing to be huge in the future, and we want to be at the forefront of its development within architecture and model making.”

Arckit Mini and GO Colours launching in 2016

Following the success of Arckit’s multi-award winning architectural model system, the company has now announced a series of new modelling kits to launch in 2016.

The new kits, which include GO Colours, Mini Angle Kit, Mini Curve Kit, and Mini Dormer Kit will launch in the summer of 2016 and will be available at arckit.com.

These innovative additions to the successful Arckit range, which are compatible with existing Arckit components, will open up even more design possibilities.

Architects and model enthusiasts will now have access to parts such as angled floors, curved walls and windows, and dormer windows, allowing them even greater design scope.

The Mini range are stand-alone sets that allow users to explore the design possibilities using specialist parts that can later be integrated with one another and added to current kits to create much more ambitious models.

Founder Damien Murtagh said: “We’ve been listening to people’s feedback and we are now developing new parts that are in demand. It’s a huge step forward for Arckit.

“They will also work well with our Arckit Infiniti 3D store, which we hope will eventually make almost every conceivable architectural component available to model makers.”

The Mini kits are expected to be a popular investment for existing Arckit fans, as the re-usable modular parts can be added to collections and used again and again.

News of Arckit’s very first multi coloured kit, Arckit GO Colours, will come at the right time for parents and schools, as Arckit is gaining a huge following within education as a tool to teach STEAM skills.

A great way to teach hands-on design skills and have spontaneous fun, the colourful kit of to- scale components is just the right size and the first of more to follow, that will introduce younger children to model making.

Murtagh added: “Since winning the Parents’ Choice Gold Award, there’s been massive demand for using Arckit to inspire the next generation of budding young architects.

“GO Colours is designed as a fun and cool introduction to the more advanced kits. It looks fantastic and can even be used alongside other popular model sets.”
