Just as the real North Star has lit the way for sailors, explorers and travelers for centuries, Celestial Buddies 14th and newest plush educational toy, Polaris, will literally light the way to Booth 6175 for its Toy Fair debut. The first of Celestial Buddies’ products to include internal LED lights, Polaris is a source not only of light, but also of delight and enlightenment!
Familiar to all as the twinkling Pole Star in the northern sky, Polaris is actually part of a “trinary” (or three-star) system . . .the dwarf star Polaris Ab revolves around the supergiant Polaris A once every 30 years or so. Billions of miles further away, the dwarf star Polaris B revolves around them both.
Our Polaris twinkles like its namesake, thanks to safety-tested, battery-operated LED lights inside its body. They are controlled by squeezing the On-Off button inside Polaris’ left foot (it will also shut off automatically after 20 minutes.) And our Polaris Ab and B, one looking rather sleepy, the other looking like it just woke up, sometimes cling to the supergiant’s hands, thanks to internal magnets.
Like all the other Celestial Buddies, our Polaris comes with an educational hang tag that provides both vital statistics about this fascinating three-star system and also some Fun Facts, as well as a guide to how to use the Big Dipper’s “pointer” stars to locate Polaris at night. Suitable for ages 3 and up, Polaris is a wonderful introduction to the northern sky.
Celestial Buddies is a line of Plush Educational Toys, each depicting an amazing celestial body. The company first exhibited at Toy Fair in 2011 in what was then the "Launch Pad" for new companies, with only the prototypes of the first four Buddies . . . Sun, Moon, Earth and Mars.
