Razor® Lets You Surf Where You Live With the RipSurf™
New Innovative Product Makes Waves at 2016 New York Toy Fair

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (February 13, 2016) – Razor USA LLC, the company behind numerous award winning products (including the Crazy Cart™, the RipStik® casterboard, and the iconic Razor® scooter) makes waves at New York Toy Fair with its latest innovation, the RipSurf™. In October 2015, RipSurf coasted into surf shops and other independent retailers and was an immediate hit. Beginning March 1, consumers can pick up their own RipSurf at Toys“R”Us stores.

Authentically styled and shaped, the RipSurf cuts and carves likes a real surfboard, but on dry land! “My love of action sports began with surfing” reveals Ali Kermani, VP of New Initiatives at Razor and originator of the RipSurf, “and from the first time I stepped on a casterboard, the parallels with surfing were obvious.” RipSurf utilizes Razor’s patented RipStik Air technology, in which a flexible polypropylene board is mounted on two inclined caster wheels, allowing riders to accelerate and decelerate without having to step off the board to push.

The passionate surfers in the development team at the company guided the design of Ali’s concept from start to finish. “The RipSurf’s styling and function were guided by the feel of surfing and the shape and features of a real surfboard. The authentic short board shape, the wax bump style application on the deck, the traction pad, the rocker and even the distance between the casters were designed to make it function as closely to a real surfboard as possible.”

Razor’s quest to develop innovative products like the RipSurf is borne by a desire to bring action sports to the masses. “Our business, and our mission, is to keep kids actively having fun,” says Razor founder and president Carlton Calvin. “Until now the thrill of surfing has been limited to people in coastal communities— with the introduction of the RipSurf we’re telling everyone - surf where you live!”

Riders eight years or older can choose RipSurf in two styles: multi-color (blue, yellow and pink) and black. Extra wheel and surf stickers are included for fun personalization. RipSurf with black accents are available at select retailers, while the multi-color traction pad is available exclusively at Toys“R”Us nationwide starting March 2016 with an MSRP of $99.99.

Razor always advocates safety and recommends riders wear the proper safety gear, use common sense and check and obey local laws regarding use of any product on public property. An adult's decision to permit a child to use Razor products should be based upon Razor's minimum age and weight requirements, and the child's skills, maturity and ability to follow rules.
