Reminder: Free Publicity Opportunities at Toy Fair 2016

January 12, 2016 | As the North American International Toy Fair prepares to open its doors to 1,000+ international journalists and bloggers next month, the Toy Industry Association (TIA) is reminding Toy Fair exhibitors that several publicity opportunities — some with approaching deadlines — are available free of charge to help maximize their media exposure.

  • Toy Fair Tools Now Available Online

The new year has arrived, along with the January edition of Toy Fair Tools. Get insights, tips and bright ideas in a simple, user-friendly format to help plan for, and make the most of your exhibiting experience.  This month’s issue highlights FAQs and includes important reminders about educational sessions, exhibitor tools and discount deadlines.  Important information will always be found in show management emails, The Toy Fair Exhibiting Guide & Order Forms and, of course, www.ToyFairNY.com.

  • Free Listing in the Toy Fair Online Press Room (Due January 15th)
Toy Fair’s Online Press Room is an important tool that allows exhibitors to post their company profiles, press releases, and other information for members of the media to browse. All exhibitors receive a complimentary “virtual” news page that includes a 50-word company backgrounder and logo; list of PR contacts with mobile numbers; and a link to the exhibitor’s website. Additional services, ranging from posting announcements to wire service distributions, are available for an additional fee.  To secure your listing, contact TIA’s Online Press Room partner, Virtual Press Office (sales@vpoinc.com; 973.783.7787).

  • Annual Product Preview (Due February 5th)
Toy Fair exhibitors are encouraged to schedule a 15-minute appointment during TIA’s annual Product Preview, which will take place on Friday, February 12th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  in the Press Center at the Javits Center, South Concourse. This is a great opportunity for companies to share information about their key drivers so that members of the TF PR Team can educate media about products and companies at the show. To make an appointment, please contact Toy Fair Product Preview Coordinator Kristen Kurtz (917-561-2406). Because a limited number of appointments are available, TIA members are given first preference during scheduling; non-member exhibitors will be seen on an as-available basis.
  • New Product Showcase
All companies participating in the Product Preview will be allowed to provide one product image for a “new product showcase” video loop that will play in the Press Center at Javits throughout the show. Additional information will be provided when your appointment is confirmed.

  • Trend Database Product Information Submission
Toy Fair exhibitors are eligible to submit information about their key drivers for inclusion in TIA’s toy trend database, which is used for media opportunities both at the show and year-round. To learn more about submission Toy Fair Product Preview Coordinator Kristen Kurtz (917-561-2406).

  • TIA’s Annual PR Bootcamp Webinar
In December, TIA held a free webinar that reviewed best strategies for attracting media attention, including developing a well-rounded media list, leveraging social media, and maximizing free resources from TIA and Virtual Press Office. For those who missed the live session, a recording is now available online.

For additional information, or to request a copy of the Toy Fair 2015 Media List, please contact Adrienne Appell, TIA’s Director of Strategic Communications, or the TF PR Team’s Stephanie Meyering.

The 113th North American International Toy Fair will take place Saturday through Tuesday, February 13-16, 2016 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City. Additional information can be found at ToyFairNY.com.
