New Additions to TIA Knowledge Network’s Agenda at Toy Fair

January 15, 2016 | The Toy Industry Association’s (TIA) Knowledge Network unveiled some additions to its existing program of popular educational sessions at Toy Fair.  The line-up is as follows:

Safety, Compliance and Environmental

Nearly everyone on the floor will benefit from attending the annual TIA Toy Safety Update on Monday, February 15. The complimentary presentation will highlight important changes in state, federal and international toy safety requirements. Speakers will examine the new technologies making headlines and permeating the industry as well as other emerging issues under consideration by legislators and regulators in key global markets.

More information can be found on Toy Fair’s Safety, Compliance and Environmental page.

Creative Factor

Education sessions tailored for the creative community at the Creative Factor will provide valuable insights from experts in various fields including product design, law, technology and more.

Hosted by Brett Klisch of Peru Meridian Studios in partnership with TIA, this year’s topics will range from STEM products to gender in toy design. Speakers include Richard Gottlieb of Global Toy Experts, United Inventors Association president Warren Tuttle and author and toy inventor Tim Walsh.

Just announced for this year is the ASK A PRO booth, which will provide attendees the opportunity to ask questions of various experts on different topics each day of the show.

“Just as a ‘Peanuts’ character would hand Lucy a nickel for advice, attendees can approach the ASK A PRO booth to inquire about the many aspects of working and living in the toy industry,” said Klisch. “From crowdfunding campaigns to idea evolution, the ASK A PRO experience is expected to keep the dialogue lively. Nickels not required.”

More details can be found on www.thecreativefactor.org and the Creative Factor’s Toy Fair page.

TIA’s Licensing Content Connection

TIA’s Licensing Content Connection features dedicated educational programming created specifically for the world of licensing – a market segment that accounts for 30 percent of all toys and games purchased in the United States. This four-session program takes place Saturday and Sunday, February 13 and 14, and will feature guest speakers who will explore the world of licensed playthings. Scheduled sessions include:

Licensing 101: An overview of licensing, successful business models and top trends for 2016.
How to Evaluate a License: Factors for manufacturers and retailers to consider when determining whether a property is right for their companies.

Full STEAM Ahead: A discussion of the size of the educational market, licensing’s role within it, and a summary of key trends and challenges facing the sector.
The Art of the Deal: Panelists will discuss the licensee-licensor relationship and key elements of a licensing agreement.

Register for one low rate of $99 for TIA members and $139 for non-members – whether you attend any or all sessions. Non-members: Save more than $90 when you register for both TIA’s Licensing Content Connection and the Global Market Research Package.
