Toy Industry Foundation Starts New Year with Toy Fair, Dallas Collections

January 19, 2016 | The Toy Industry Foundation’s (TIF) Toy Bank will once again serve as the official charity of the 113th North American Toy Fair, and provide toys to local charities in the tri-state area. Donations will be picked up from exhibitor booths at the close of the show on Tuesday, February 16th beginning at 4:01 p.m. Exhibitors can submit donation forms to TIF’s booth #5201 on Level 1 anytime during Toy Fair, February 13-16.

Delivering the joy and benefits of play to children in need has been TIF’s core mission since the Toy Bank was founded in 2003. Since its inception, TIF and its partners have delivered more than $128 million worth of toys and games to children living through countless difficult situations. In 2015 alone, the Foundation distributed toys and playthings to more than 1 million children across 43 states.

Already just a few weeks into 2016, TIF reached out to local charities to collect for Dallas-area residents impacted by the devastating weather and tornado damage.

The planning was fully realized yesterday, as the Toy Bank partnered with the S.M. Wright Foundation, which was also distributing furniture and beds in Dallas. The joint effort collected toy and book donations to provide relief and hope for affected families and residents. Valued at about $4,000, nearly 1,000 Etch-a-Sketch products, books, Groove Cubes and other playthings were donated by Toy Industry Association (TIA) members Cartamundi, the Ohio Art Company, and WowWee, as well as by The Book Foundation.

“A TIA member in Dallas sent us aftermath photos of the tornadoes’ impact, and we knew we should focus our efforts there,” said Jean Butler, TIF executive director. “We are glad to have brought some happiness to children and families who are trying to put their lives back together.”
