The World’s Number One Murder Mystery Game Company Hunt A Killer Debuts “Death at the Dive Bar” at the New York Toy Fair
This marks the exciting launch of the company’s first retail ready all-in-one game

New York, NY – February 11, 2020 – Hunt A Killer (HAK), the world’s fastest growing makers of mystery game subscription boxes, announced today the launch of Death at the Dive Bar, an exciting new mystery game that will chill spines, pique curiosity, and challenge players to solve the crime. This is the company’s first singular game for the retail channel. 

Death at the Dive Bar takes place in the seedy underbelly of the Old Scratch Tavern. Surrounded by whispers that the “accidental” death of the owner wasn’t so accidental, players are tasked to uncover the truth – before it’s too late. Inside the box lies veritable evidence directly from the crime scene, as well as materials to help give context into the world of the game - letters penned by the characters (laced with ciphers), hefty police and witness reports, objects found at the scene, and much more. In all Hunt A Killer games, the players aren’t just players – they become a part of the intricate world as they try to crack the case.

Since 2016, HAK has taken the subscription box to the next generation – and having recently shipped their one millionth box and surpassed 100,000 subscribers, they’re at the top of their game. Through combining vivid storytelling, expert plotting, and authentic clues and documents, HAK allows everyone to step into the shoes of a detective and solve a mystery all within a kit. The company’s flagship game unfolds through monthly deliveries of a single box containing a piece of the puzzle to their dedicated community of subscribers. HAK smartly utilized the subscription format to deliver a cohesive, innovative, and positively unique and immersive murder mystery experience - and from solving the murder of a former classmate to investigating otherworldly creatures, HAK has mastered the art of crafting an authentic mystery game down to the most minute detail. 

As the spearhead of the genre, HAK has decided to branch out into creating singular box experiences apart from their usual longform games. However, this is the first time that the company will be creating and launching a singular game for the retail-specific channel, available without a subscription. 

Death at the Dive Bar will be showcased at the upcoming New York Toy Fair, the largest international toy fair, taking place from February 22 through 25 at the Jacob K. Javits Center. Hunt A Killer’s booth, #4422, will be in Hall 1E and will be decked out as the “Old Scratch Tavern” itself. The new game will be available to preview and play, and the HAK team will be on hand for interviews and sales opportunities.
